LOT #3: Turley Wine Cellars Hayne Vineyard: Magnum of Petite Syrah 2000
donated by Turley Wine Cellars
Value $350* FedEx shipping included
Bidding starts at $150 (increments of $25)
NEVER BEFORE SOLD MAGNUM from the winery’s library, these wines come from their flagship vineyard and are their most sought after and expensive wines.
Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah: To start, the color of this wine is amazingly dark. The next thing to note is the fruit-driven aroma and underlying Petite Syrah meatiness that make this wine so much fun. The power of this wine is blatantly obvious, but it comes across with such grace and finesse - really atypical for a wine this big. The tannins are solid but not mouth ripping and the finish brings it all back around to the wonderful fruit.
Here’s what world-renowned wine critic Robert Parker said about the wine:
2000 Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah – 96 points
The 2000 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is off the charts in terms of extract and richness. Its impenetrable black/blue/purple color is followed by scents of incense, cassis, minerals, blackberry liqueur, and graphite. This monstrously full, rich, and textured wine needs 10-12 years of cellaring, and will keep for 35-40 years.
