It is flat sculpture, but gives optic illusion of being three dimensional. This can result in even my static sculptures appearing animated.” http://www.laudenslagersculpture.com/

In the early sixties starts a career in photojournalism collaborating with many magazines and agencies in Italy and in Europe. The meeting with Simon Guttmann founder of the agency Report is fundamental for his growth as a concerned photographer. At the beginning on the eighties a growing mistrust in the absolute capacity of photography in reproducing the subtleties of reality leads him to develop a new activity as cinematographer in the world of fiction and advertising. But the relationship with the still camera never ceased and over the past ten years he has developed a new approach in portraying the world: photography seen as an expression of contemporary art. Since 1995 has started the beach series. Lives and works in Lucca, Italy.”

LOT #20: Heatseeking (Ship.03) by Jordan Crandall

Jordan Crandall "Heatseeking (Ship.03)", 2000, C-print, 20 x 24 in. unframed, donated by Jordan Crandall.

Value $1,200
Bid starts at: $ 700 ($100 increments)

“Fear belongs in the topology of enjoyment, and horror is also on the psychological road map of voyeurism. Terror and voyeurism, joy and fear are rings of a common geometry. This geometry shapes the topology of contemporary and future society.

Jordan Crandall is the first artist who gives us a vision of this geometry, an insight into a dark zone of new pleasures and pains within a techno-militaristic controlled society. His vision of the armed vision of today comments on the “fear studies” that accompany the transformations of American society.

Crandall's cinema shows the Janus-head of the panoptic principle, from which the cinema arose: seeing and being seen, visual pleasure and paranoia. His art shows us the two roots of the cinematographic experience and its dangerous future in a media society based on armed vision.” - Peter Weibel http://jordancrandall.com/main/index.html

Value $3,750

Bid starts at: $1,750 ($200 increments)

Created by the renowned architect + theorist, Teddy Cruz (Estudio Teddy Cruz), for the "Tijuana: Strange New World" exhibition. Over the past decade, a seismic shift in economic and political forces has transformed life in the second-largest city on the West Coast, situated at the most heavily trafficked international border crossing in the world. Tijuana's newfound wealth and haphazard expansion have changed patterns of migration for the city's many artists, who once routinely moved north to Los Angeles but are now staying or returning, and being joined by friends from Mexico City and beyond.

Teddy Cruz won the 2004-2005 James Stirling prize for Border Postcard: chronicles from the edge, a project exploring new urban strategies for the international border zone spanning San Diego and Tijuana. He has designed new mixed-use developments that reuse and adapt existing structures and recycled materials.
